Term 1 - Environmental Sustainability
During term 1 we will focus on basic geography literacy skills: The understanding of human and natural systems, geographic reasoning, and systematic decision-making. This is a foundation building term -- learning foundational and fundamental vocabulary and ideas that will be used throughout the rest of the school year (and throughout students' lives).

10 Second Video Assignment | Due:
This is a multipurpose project: to help us get to know each other, to pre-assess your video skills, and to help you think creatively. Students will be completing a self-reflection rubric.
"A Long Walk to Water" | Due:
Students will explore a dual perspective of the Sudanese Civil War and the impact on the youth, as well as the importance of water and global water issues. "A Long Walk to Water" by Linda Sue Park is based on a true story.

The Sun-Earth Relationship - How latitude impacts culture.
On September 25th 2015, countries adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years.
