As part of the 9th grade World History class we will take part in an exchange program with Japanese students. This Going Global program is part of a global community and international peace project that we are starting in collaboration with Japanese teachers. Since the Japanese school year is just beginning as ours is ending, we are offering extra credit to students who participate over the summer.
There are two parts to this project: Documenting a day in your life and a community service project. We are asking students to document a day in their life through drawings, photographs and/ or videos with brief simple descriptions. This can range from a regular summer day of not doing much to family vacations and summer adventure. The other part is a community service project, just like in 7th grade when students had to complete 3 hours of service, we are asking students to document any service they do during the summer. These artifacts will be shared with partner Japanese students/ classes. We have set up a private password protected blog for students to upload their stories:
