Goal
Students will share the task of telling a story.
Project Posting Schedule
One group of students will write a paragraph, then pass the story along to the next group. The product will be a several paragraph (maybe even pages) story. To wrap up, students will discuss the conventions of storytelling and why/how the story unfolded as it did. As an extension, students could be asked to create a comic strip/graphic novel/short video depicting the story.
Project Schedule
October - Self-introduction
Week 1 – Students in Group 1 will compose the first part/paragraph of the story and post it to GG
Week 2 – Students in Group 2 discuss what Group 1 composed and add their piece of the story.
Week 3-6 – Remaining groups continue with this process until the story is “finished.” Perhaps the teacher(s) can assign a length/time limit to the story.
Week 7 – Students will review the entire story and discuss how it ended up there and how it might’ve deviated from the intentions/expectations of previous groups. Particular attention can be paid to the conventions of writing and plot development in storytelling.
Week 8 – Wrap up/extension. Continue discussion and/or create a visual accompaniment to the story (video, illustrations, comic strip, etc.)
